Anantara will open the Koh Yao Yai resort later this year

Anantara Hotels and Resorts has announced plans to open a new resort on the Thai island of Koh Yao Yai.

Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort is set to open in December 2022 in a location that immerses guests in Thai culture and the natural environment.

Immersion in the room

The tranquil island of Koh Yao Yai sits in Phang Nga Bay between the popular destinations of Phuket and Krabi. This characterful island is known for its traditional Thai culture and idyllic palm-fringed shores.

From here, activities range from island hopping, snorkeling and diving in waters rich in marine life to visiting local fishing villages and coconut and rubber plantations.

The 148-key resort will sit on a kilometer of white-sand beach overlooking the towering limestone formations that jut out from the waters of Phang Nga Bay.

A family retreat

When complete, the resort will include a collection of one- and two-bedroom beachfront pool villas, as well as spacious ocean-view suites occupying four low-rise buildings that overlook a freeform pool.

The Seaview Pool Penthouses all have large outdoor spaces for entertaining, the Grand Seaview Family Suites each incorporate a play area, and the Lagoon Pool Villas feature wooden decks, outdoor dining areas and plunge pools.

Guests can dine at an oceanfront restaurant serving produce-based Thai and Asian dishes, as well as at the pool bar and all-day dining restaurant and lobby bar with an international menu. The ingredients come from the organic farm on site.
